Let's Get Organized: What to do with Odds & Ends You Need to Keep

Who like me has a box/basket/drawer full of Odds & Ends that you know you need to keep, but whenever you look through them, you have no idea what they're for?

Are they cluttering up your junk drawer and taking up valuable real estate?

You put together a piece of furniture, hang your blinds, assemble anything and they come with extra screws, replacement pieces, etc. Thanks IKEA.
And you're afraid they might go to something so you don't throw them away.

Here's how to organize and simplify them.

Grab a bunch of Baggies (Quart/Snack) and Post It Notes.
Sort through the original packaging and identify what they go to (if you can).
Get rid of any pieces for items that are no longer in your home.
If you have NO IDEA, you can toss them or put them in a baggie that says NO IDEA.
You can always set a reminder in six months or a year, so that if you haven't used it, you can toss it then.

Sort into Categories and label the Post It Notes.

Put items into baggies and put label inside.

 Label a Box or Basket

And now you have a simplified and organized way to keep track of your odds and ends. As you get anything new, add a labeled baggie to the basket.

Happy Organizing!
